Trustpower’s Matahina Hydro Electric Power station is located on the Rangitaiki River, in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand.
Matahina has 2 x 40 MW vertical Francis units which were commissioned in 1968. The turbines were designed and built by Dominion Engineering. The alternators are English Electric. The units are 36 pole, giving a rotational speed of 167.6 Rev/min
